Getting started
After installing, ClipWise lives in your system tray (bottom-right, near the clock) or menu bar. Click the icon to open the main window, or use the global keyboard shortcut shown in Settings → General. Copy text anywhere as you normally would — ClipWise quietly keeps a history you can search and reuse.
First launch: because ClipWise is a new independent app, your OS may show a routine security prompt. This is expected — click through to run it. The installer is standard and safe (no admin rights needed), and every update is cryptographically signed.
Clipboard history
Everything you copy as text is added to your history, newest first. Open ClipWise to browse or search it, click any item to load it back into the editor, and copy it out again with the copy icon. History is stored locally on your computer — it never leaves your device.
You can clear an item, clear everything, or pause history in Settings → History. ClipWise also auto-detects things that look like passwords or keys and disables AI actions on them for safety.
AI actions
With text in the editor, pick an action to rewrite it into finished, clipboard-ready text. Each has a Ctrl + number shortcut. Built-in actions:
You can edit any action’s wording, tone, and instructions — or add your own — in Settings → Actions.
Inline quick actions
You don’t have to open the main window. Select text in any app and ClipWise can show a small floating button right there — click it for a compact palette of your favourite actions, run one, and the result is ready to paste. It’s the fastest way to fix an email or tidy a paragraph without switching windows.
Screenshots & images
Click Take a screenshot (or copy any image) and ClipWise can act on it: Extract Text (OCR), Describe Image, or Summarize Screenshot. Images are processed for that one action and never saved — only the text result can be kept. Image actions need an image-capable AI model; ClipWise Managed AI supports them out of the box.
AI providers & plans
ClipWise gives you two ways to run AI:
- ClipWise Managed AI — no setup, no API key. Sign in with your email and start using AI immediately. The Free plan includes 10 actions per day; paid plans (Light, Plus, Pro) raise that limit.
- Bring your own provider — connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Ollama (runs locally on your PC) account in Settings → AI. Using your own provider requires an active plan (from $29.99/yr); your API keys are stored locally on your device.
Have a promo code? Redeem it in Settings → AI for bonus actions.
Managing your subscription
Billing is handled securely by Paddle, our authorized reseller — they process payment and send your receipt. To upgrade, open Settings → AI and choose a plan; checkout opens in your browser. After paying, switch back to ClipWise and your plan updates automatically.
To change or cancel your plan, use the Manage subscription link in Settings → AI, which opens your secure Paddle customer portal. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period. For refunds or billing questions, contact us below.
Languages
ClipWise’s interface is available in 21 languages and follows your system language on first launch. Change it any time from the language menu at the top of the window. Translate works across all 21, both ways.
Updates
ClipWise updates itself automatically — it checks on launch and once a day, then installs new versions quietly in the background. You can also check manually from Settings → About. Every update is cryptographically signed, so only genuine ClipWise releases can be installed. Auto-update can be turned off in Settings → General.
Privacy & your data
- Your clipboard history is stored only on your computer and is never uploaded.
- If you use your own provider, your API keys stay on your device and requests go directly to that provider.
- If you use ClipWise Managed AI, the text or image for that action is sent to ClipWise’s service to generate the result; we don’t sell your data.
See our full Terms & Privacy for details.
Troubleshooting
That is Windows SmartScreen, shown for any newly released app. Click More info, then Run anyway to continue.
Bringing your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Ollama needs an active plan. ClipWise Managed AI works on the free plan with no key.
Check your internet connection. If you use your own provider, confirm the API key and that the selected model supports the action (image actions need an image-capable model).
Switch back to the ClipWise window — it refreshes automatically within a minute or two.
